”After being referred by my GP, I was offered an assessment appointment within a week. Following the assessment, I was provided with a treatment plan and felt confident that this was the right clinic for me. After years of suffering with panic attacks which stopped me from travelling, socialising in big groups and avoiding presentations at work, I learnt how to manage panic attacks and within 6 weeks I no longer experienced panic attacks and began to get my life back. I was very impressed with the sessions. Each appointment we reviewed my goals, I was given work to do in-between the appointments and there was a clear direction and plan. I had a very positive experience and would recommend The Consulting Clinic”.

” I am in my sixties and have had an issue with claustrophobia for many years. It only presented as a problem on limited occasions such as an MRI scan or a ferry trip involving an overnight stay in a small cabin. Scans, thankfully, were rare events and the annual ferry trip and my reaction was regarded as a bit if a joke. This year I had two separate failed scans followed by two successful ones, achieved only with the aid of heavy medication. The ferry trip to France had the usual outcome with my wife in the cabin while I was soon out on deck or sitting in an open area – all night. On reaching our destination in Europe, something was wrong. Now I was feeling enclosed in an area where I would normally have been comfortable and happy. The feeling of being enclosed and under pressure was such that we called my GP and my wife and I left our car and flew back to Ireland two days after arriving. I was put on mild medication and referred to Dr. Louise Clarke at The Consulting Clinic. Dr. Clarke gave me an understanding of the problem and the knowledge needed to get it in perspective. Most important of all, she gave me the ability and the tools to deal with the problem if it were to arise again. And it did arise again. After six weeks at home we flew back to our European destination – nobody wants to abandon a good car permanently! We were able to have a delayed holiday but when the problem which had previously caused my hasty (and expensive) return manifested itself again, I knew how to react, and the difficulty passed. On the ferry journey back to Ireland, once again I experienced the impulse to flee the cabin. This time, I did what I had been repeatedly advised to do during the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy sessions. I challenged my thoughts which helped me to see that I was safe and in no danger. My anxiety reduced and I stayed in the in that cabin until morning and was so glad to have had a night’s peace. On reflection, the most interesting aspect of my experience is that I expected the therapy would be aimed at eliminating the problem I had had for years. In practice, it is much more logical in that it taught me to deal with that problem and to overcome the feelings of panic and stress when they did attempt to take over my system as they had done a few short months ago. It gave skills to challenge my thoughts and to develop a new relationship with anxiety whereby I can travel again”

”Dr Louise’s approach was the perfect mix of coaching and mentoring bringing awareness to my behaviour and how I can respond better, which in turn gives me more control over my own life. At the same time, I learned a lot about the actions and potential drivers of people in my environment, how to interpret those (or not) and most importantly respond better. Together with other mindful activities, such as Yoga, Vipassana, meditation, and goal-setting, the sessions with Louise have helped me to become a better version of myself and, therefore, hopefully also a better contributor to our society”
